A Wedding Weekend, Not Just a Wedding Day
Most couples spend months planning a single day, only to find it goes by faster than expected. The speeches overran, the first dance came and went, and they barely managed five minutes alone with the people who had travelled the furthest to be there.
The case for a wedding weekend rather than a wedding day is simple – it gives you time.
Three Nights, Not One
Weddings at Middleton Castle include a minimum three-night stay because we think that’s the least such a momentous occasion deserves. Guests arrive on Friday, with the chance to settle into their surroundings, catch up with one another, and look forward to the weekend ahead.
By the time the ceremony takes place, guests have already had an evening together, friendships have been made across the dinner table and the wedding day itself feels less pressured because there’s still a Sunday ahead.
The Setting
Middleton Castle is a medieval moated castle that has been standing since 1455, so the backdrop speaks for itself. The Great Hall makes a striking setting for an indoor ceremony for more intimate gatherings. For those who prefer to celebrate outside, the front lawn, with the castle as backdrop, has space for a marquee of up to 450 square metres. The oak-panelled dining room seats up to thirty for a grand wedding breakfast that will feel genuinely unique.
As the castle is not licensed for civil ceremonies, most couples hold their legal ceremony locally and return to the splendour of Middleton Castle for the reception and celebrations.
Everyone Under One Roof
Thirty guests can stay across fifteen individually decorated bedrooms, including a bridal suite with an adjoining reception room, en-suite bathroom, and roll-top bath. At most venues, guests end up scattered across nearby hotels once the evening winds down. Here, everyone wakes up in the same place and can spend Sunday morning together reliving the night before.
A Limited Number Each Year
Middleton Castle takes on a limited number of weddings each year, working with a trusted group of caterers, marquee companies, florists, and local suppliers to ensure that every detail is handled by people who know the castle well. Couples can choose from approved partners rather than starting from scratch, which means less time coordinating with suppliers and more time actually enjoying the process.
